Sony has released their latest firmware update to the PlayStation 3 console called Version 1.80. This new version now supports DVD upscaling - up to 1080p resolutions. However, you’ll need an HDMI connector to enjoy this feature. It also adds support for Dolby Living Network Alliance 3 (DLA3) compatible PCs and laptops. Hence allowing you to enjoy multimedia streaming of audio, video, and music content to the PS3. Sony has also added true Remote Play to the PS3 which means you’ll be able to connect to your PS3 via the PSP using WiFi.

Remote Play has some implications for PSP owners. Assuming you have upgraded your PSP to the latest firmware version 3.50, you’ll soon be able to access your PS3’s hard drive content (music, video, audio) from your PSP via a WiFi connection. This means you can be at your local Starbucks coffee shop surfing the web on your PSP, and you’ll be able to retrieve your music files remotely from your PS3.

Other new features from the official press release include:

* Copying Saved Data to a Memory Card Users can now copy saved data from PlayStation or PlayStation 2 format software stored on their PS3 system to a Memory Card or Memory Card (8MB) (for PlayStation2), using their PS3 system and a Memory Card Adaptor.
* Photo Printing, Viewing, and Editing The photo capabilities of PS3 system have been enhanced, allowing users to print digital photos stored on a PS3s hard drive or inserted storage media. Currently, select Epson printers connected via USB are compatible. In addition, users will find a new type of slideshow for displaying photos, zoom functionality and the option to crop images.
